Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for a financial grant to help you pay for your time at university.

Parents’ Learning Allowance

Full-time Students NON-REPAYABLE
Income-assessed: up to £2,024 in 2026/2027

The Parents’ Learning Allowance is to help with course-related costs for students who have dependent children. How much you get depends on your household income (including your husband, wife or partner) – Student Finance England will be able to advise you on how much help you might get. Jobcentre Plus will not count this grant when they work out your benefit entitlement.

Childcare Grant
Full-time Students NON-REPAYABLE (MEETS 85% OF ACTUAL COSTS)
Income-assessed: up to £199.62 per week for one child only
up to £342.24 per week for two or more children

The Child Care Grant is available to full-time students with dependent children in registered or approved childcare. How much help you get is based on your actual childcare costs and will depend on your household income.

Adult Dependants’ Grant
Full-time Students NON-REPAYABLE
Income-assessed: up to £3,545 in 2026/2027

The Adult Dependant's Grant is available if a students spouse/partner (or other adult dependant if the student has no spouse/partner) where the adult dependant's own annual income does not exceed £3,796.
