Why come to an open day?

An open day gives you a chance to visit and experience a university first-hand.

You'll have the opportunity to tour the campus, including the university's academic buildings, sports facilities, accommodation, and social spaces.

You'll also be able to attend talks and presentations about the courses on offer, as well as ask questions and receive guidance from academic staff and support services.

My best advice for an Open Day is ‘Go to one’! Really try and attend because it calms your nerves and worries. One thing I learned was that no question is a silly one! Despite you thinking it probably is, it won’t be – someone else is probably thinking it too. You can find out so much information about the course, the assessment, the campus, city, facilities and much more.

There are many things you can do before attending an Open Day/Evening to help you prepare to take full advantage

Do I need to register?

Yes, booking is essential for these events. Please complete the booking form for the event you'd like to attend.

Will I receive a booking confirmation?

When you book a place on one of our open days, you'll receive an email confirmation with useful information and a link to manage your booking. If can't find this email, please check your spam folder or contact us at [email protected]

Am I able to bring someone with me?

Open days are a great way for not only you to see the campus and our university, but for your friends and family too – the more the merrier.

Where should I go when I arrive?

When you first arrive, you will need to register with us and receive the information you need for the day. Registration for our open days will take place please near to the car park or inside the Robert Hardy Building and registration for our open day lites (Feb-April) will take place in the Venue.

What should I expect at an open day?

Our full open days (June-Dec) have organised sessions either related generally to university life or subject specific talks that you can attend. You can freely wander around the university, have a look at student accommodation, check out facilities such as the library, cafes, students’ union, and get an overall feel for the place. You’ll also be able to meet staff and current students, and find out about extra-curricular activities you could get involved with.

Who will I meet at the open day?

You'll have the opportunity to talk to your potential tutors face-to-face and ask them all about your chosen course. There'll also be representatives from Admissions, Student Advice and Careers and Employability to name just a few Plus, you will have a great opportunity to talk to current students. What better way to learn about the university than by speaking to the students who are already here?

Can I attend more than one subject talk?

Yes, our timetable allows you to attend two subject talks. All our talks are within a five minute walk of each other. Interested in more than two subjects? Don’t worry, we have a subject drop-in in the afternoon where there'll be a representative from every course.

How do I get to Lincoln?

Lincoln Bishop is a twenty-five-minute walk (uphill) from Lincoln train station and is well served by the local bus network with a bus-stop a few minutes from the campus. Maps and travel information can be found here .

Where can I park?

Open day guests can use on our-campus car park for free. If you're driving to Lincoln Bishop, please enter via our Longdales Road entrance and follow the signs to our main car park. Blue badge holders can park in any of our dedicated parking bays.

Do you have disabled access?

All our venues have disabled access. If you have any accessibility or additional support requirements to facilitate your full participation in the event, please detail these on your registration. If you require any assistance on the day, our staff and student ambassadors are there to help.

I am travelling quite a distance – is there somewhere for me to stay overnight?

Stay in a Queen room with en-suite in our beautiful Student Village accommodation, located on Riseholme Road - just across the road from our campus. Click here to book your stay.
The are plenty of wonderful, low cost and welcoming hotels, guest houses and bed & breakfasts around the university. Go to the Visit Lincoln website to have a look at the many choices.

Where can we eat and drink on campus?

Tea, coffee and water will be available for the duration of the open day. Lunch will be provided at our summer open days. Light refreshments are available at our autumn open days. Our on-site urban diner Refectory will be serving hot and cold lunch options. Please note our campus outlets are now cashless. Further information regarding our catering outlets can be found here.

What accommodation is available in or around the campus?

Moving away from home to begin your studies can seem rather scary – that’s why we aim to make your transition as smooth and hassle-free as possible. Our Accommodation Officer will be available throughout the day to help with any queries and provide information. There'll also be an opportunity to see on-campus accommodation during our accommodation tours. Find out more information about our accommodation both on and off campus.

What support is available at the University?

Our students are our top priority. We’ll offer you support from your first application right through to graduation and beyond. During your open day, you’ll be able to speak to our Student Advice team on a wide range of issues and queries including accessibility and disability services, financial support, careers and futures guidance, counselling and Chaplaincy support. I’m worried about student finance and maintenance loans – is there someone I can talk to on the day?

At Lincoln Bishop, we try to give you all the information and support we can to help you through the process. Our Student Advice Team is available to answer your questions about student finance, including tuition fees, student loans and general living costs. Find more information about fees and funding .

How To Find Us

The Lincoln Bishop Campus is located in the Cathedral Quarter of the city, only 5 minutes walk away from the magnificent Cathedral, historic Castle and the trendy boutique shops of uphill Lincoln. Our main campus entrance is on Longdales Road, and our satnav postcode is LN1 3DY.
If you’re driving to Lincoln Bishop from outside of Lincoln:

* Join the A46 Lincoln by-pass and follow signs for Lincoln North

* At the roundabout with the A15, head towards the city centre along Riseholme Road to the first roundabout. Turn left, taking the first exit into Longdales Road

* The entrance to the Lincoln Bishop car park is approximately 100 metres on the right
