Throughout its history, the SRC has committed to contributing knowledge to international literature and supporting evidence-based policies and actions at the national and regional levels. This commitment has been fulfilled through conducting multidisciplinary research and engaging in capacity building and skill development of researchers and implementers in Egypt and the region. * Research at AUC * Social Research Center The mission of the Social Research Center is to conduct and encourage multidisciplinary social science research in Egypt and the Arab region. The center is engaged in a variety of research projects at both the national and regional levels, and has a distinct reputation for carrying out high-quality field studies and in-depth analytical research. It has also excelled in the area of building social research capacities for students, scholars and organizations engaged in social science research in the region. Learn more about Social Research Center Latest News AUC Kicks-Off AL-SEHA Survey Event On January 14-18, 2025, The American University in Cairo held the kick-off event for the AL-SEHA survey. This survey is the core of the AL-SEHA initiative. The initiative is funded by the National Institute on Aging (NIA) for five years. It aims to contribute to global knowledge on the aging population by establishing an Egyptian health and retirement study modeled after the US Health and Retirement Surveys (HRS) and its sister survey, the Survey of Health, Aging and Retirement in Europe (SHARE). Learn More Contribution to Knowledge Marital Status and Wellbeing of Women in Egypt This study examines changing patterns of marriage and divorce in Egypt and their relationship to women's empowerment and wellbeing.
